Congratulations to RCTFC athletes Jeremy Belcher, Lauryn Savela and Markus Savela who travelled to Kelowna to compete at the Jack Brow meet June 27-28.

Highlights included Lauryn Savela’s silver medal wins in pole vault and javelin and Markus Savela’s gold medal in long jump, silver medal in 60m hurdles and bronze medals in 60m dash, 600m, high jump and 100m.

Royal City Track and Field Club turned out 21 athletes to compete at the first ever  Universal Club Track and Field Meet held at Bear Creek Park, June 27-28. The RCTFC athletes produced over 50 top 8 performances and won 23 medals.

Royal City Track and Field Club athlete Brianna Bates (15 years old) topped the meet with her 38.38 throw in javelin which won her the gold medal and also accomplished meeting a Team BC standard to put her in the running for earning a spot with Team BC when they travel to Nationals in August.

Other meet highlights included:

• Grace Fetherstonhaugh- gold medal in the 2000m for 14-15 year old girls
• Jack Foster’s gold medal in triple jump and bronze in high jump for 14-15 boys
• Finnley Cookson- pair of silver medals for the 1200m and 800m for 14-15 year old boys
• Shea Janke-silver medal in 2000m and bronze in 1200m for 14-15 boys
• Max Jones’-silver medal for 200m hurdles for 14-15 boys
• Elizabeth Bowles’-trio of silver medals for 100m, 1200m and 800m and bronze in shot put for 13 year old girls
• Emma Dolman’s pair of bronze medals for 200m hurdles and 80m hurdles
• Emily Bowles-gold medal in 600m and silver for 1000m
• Monika Arcadi’s bronze medal for 1000m
• Paige Deedman’s silver medal for long jump (11 year old girls)

Competition at the Langley Mustang’s Invitational Meet went well for Royal City Track and Field Club athletes June 19-21.

The club was represented by more than 25 athletes who as a team accomplished 13 medals and 56 top 8 finishes in a wide range of events from shot put and javelin to high jump, hurdles and steeplechase!

In the 9 year old age-group, top eight performances included: Noah Brolin with a bronze medal in 100m and 5th in 60m dash and Markus Savela’s 4th in 600m, 6th in 60m, 5th in long jump and 6th in shot put!

For 10 year olds, Nicole Blatherwick took silver for javelin and 7th for 60m hurdles, Katherine Martin took bronze for javelin and 6th for high jump, Kenan Burrows won 6th for shot put and Andrew Murray won 8th place for 60m hurdles and long jump.

Monika Arcadi, 11, accomplished wins in a range of events, including bronze in 1000m, 4th in long jump and javelin and 5th in high jump and 600m. Cameron Dewith won 5th place in the 11 year old boys’ 600m.

For 12 year olds, Shankara Rajkumar won silver in 300m and 5th in 200m and Riley Storms won 6th in 800m and 8th in 80m hurdles. The 12 year old girls relay team also won the gold medal in the 4 x 100m-way to go!

In the 13 year old category:

• Lauryn Savela won  a pair of silver medals in pole vault and javelin and 5th in discus
• Lauren Sidhu took 5th in 300m, 7th in 200m and 800m and 8th in 100m
• Sabine Girt won 4th in 800m, 6th in 1200m, 7th in 80m hurdles and 9th in 200m
• Emma Dolman took 8th for 200m hurdles and 9th for 800m and 1200m
• Emma Celle won 8th in discus.

In the Midget category (ages 14-15):

Paige Deedman competes in long jump

Royal City Track and Field Club athletes took home 22 medals, 74 top 8 performances and a meet record as well at the June 13-14 Jesse Bent Memorial Meet at the Percy Perry Stadium in Coquitlam. Celebrating its 20 Year Anniversary as a club in New Westminster, Royal City Track and Field Club turned out 46 competitive athletes at the meet.

Top 8 Performance highlights at the meet included:

On the Track:

• Emily Chilton’s 5th place finish in the 16/17 year old 800m with a huge pb time of 2:21:24
• Lauren Vanee’s 7th in 400m hurdles for 16/17 girls
• Grace Fetherstonhaugh’s new meet record and gold medal in the 1200m with a time of 3:40:08 in the 14/15 year old girls’ category

Jesse Bent results 2015

Royal City Track and Field Club athletes celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the club on Monday, June 15th at the annual club bbq/mini pentathlon which celebrates the successes of the athletes who completed the Intro to Track and Track Rascal programs. More than 150 people (athletes and their families) from the competitive program, the intro program and the track rascal program came out to show their support of these athletes in the fun evening which took place on the track, in the field and at the bbq after.

An outstanding 24 JD athletes represented Royal City Track and Field Club at the May 16-17 South Fraser Junior Olympics Trackmeet at Bear Creek Park in Surrey. Performances by all of the athletes contributed to Royal City Track and Field Club placing 5^th overall out of the 22 competing track and field clubs at the meet. Congratulations to all of the athletes who participated in the meet for accomplishing their own PBs and wins!

Special recognition to Kenan Burrows, Annika Yong, Kaitlyn Biedka, Nicole Blatherwick, Katherine Martin, Noah Duke and Levi Tuura for competing in their first trackmeet as a Royal City Track and Field Club athlete and accomplishing personal best performances in their events!

Highlights included excellent performances against competitors by the following RCTFC relay teams:

• Bronze Medal win by the 11-year old 4 x 100m relay team (Kate Bowles, Charlotte Taylor, Grace Hodges and Kaitlyn Biedka) and Gold for the 11-year old 4 x 200m relay team (Kate Bowles, Charlotte Taylor, Sydney Christiansen and Kaitlyn Biedka)
• Silver Medal win by the 13-year old 4 x 200m relay team (Elizabeth Bowles, Emma Celle, Emma Dolman and Lauryn Savela) and also Bronze for the same team in the 4 x 100m
• Bronze Medal win by the 11-year old 4 x 100m relay team (Nicole Blatherwick, Katherine Martin, Livia Russo and Annika Yong)

• (11 year old girls)-Monika Arcadi won well this weekend with three bronze medals for 600m, long jump and high jump as well as 4^th in 1000m and 6^th in shot put, 8^th place for Grace Hodges in the finals for 60m dash, a pair of silver medals for Emily Bowles for performances in 600m and 1000m, 4^th place for Kate Bowles in the 600m and an impressive 5^th place in long jump against of field of almost 30 competitors
• (11 year old boys)-Cameron Dewith won well with a silver medal in 1000m, 6^th place in long jump and 7^th place in shot put, while teammate Shivan Rajkumar took the 6^th place ribbon for shot put
• (12 year old girls)-Katelyn Stewart-Barnett took home a pair of silver medals for the 800m and the 1200m and also took 4^th for high jump and 7^th for long jump and teammate Shankara Rajkumar took the silver medal for her strong 300m performance
• (13 year old girls)-Emma Dolman won 6^th place in 300m and also in the 800m while teammate Emma Celle took 5^th place in high jump, 6^th in discus, 7^th in 800m run and 11^th place in long jump (against a field of 22 competitors), Elizabeth Bowles won well with 4^th place in 800m and 5^th in 1200m and Lauryn Savela took 4^th in discus throw and 10^th in high jump

Three athletes represented Royal City Track and Field Club very well at the Centennial Meet in Kamloops May 15-17, medaling in throws and competing to finals on the track.

In the 12-year old boys’ category, David Patry-Smith took the gold medal for his shot put throw, while 14-year old sister and teammate Jenevieve Patry-Smith won gold in the midget category for her discus throw of 29.78 (a PB for Patry-Smith) and also won gold in shot put and silver in hammer when she threw to 36.17 (also a PB). Jenevieve also won the javelin event beating both the field of midget girls and the midget boys with a PB throw of 39.70.

Also in the midget category, teammate Brianna Bates took silver for her javelin throw, just shy of 30 while she also competed well on the track, making it to the midget finals in the 100m with a PB of 13.62.

RCTFC athletes Emma Dolman, Maxwell Jones and Ryan Jensen started the track season off with strong performances in the field and on the track.

Competing in an impressive array of events, Dolman took bronze in the 1200m for 2002 girls, 4th in high jump, 4th in the 300m, 7th in 80m hurdles and 7th in the 800m. Her performances included 4 personal bests.

Teammate Maxwell Jones’ highlights were a gold medal in pole vault for 2001 boys and bronze in long jump (both pbs). All in all, Jones had 6 top 8 finishes for 6 events which included his gold in pole vault and 3 bronze medals total.

Ryan Jensen’s peak performances included winning bronze in triple jump for 2001 boys, 4th in 200m hurdles and 6th in 100m hurdles.
