Practice Schedules

2020 PRE SEASON TRAINING

Pre season training for athletes aged 13 and older will commence January 2020 (JD athletes who turn 13 in 2020 will also be included in these training sessions).  There will also be some limited training spots available for athletes aged 11-12 years.

Athletes are not required to sign up to participate for the pre season training sessions but an email to the respective coach as indicated below is required so coaches can plan the sessions accordingly.

Pre Season Track Training for 13+

  • Thursdays from 6:00pm – 7:30pm at Mercer Stadium. Workouts will be every Thursday starting Thursday, January 9 and continue until the regular season schedule begins. Athletes must email Coach Sean at citytrackdad@gmail.com to confirm attendance at this practice. This is a base/conditioning running practice.
  • Saturdays from 9:00am – 10:20am at Deer Lake Park.  Workouts will be every Saturday starting Saturday, January 11 and continue until the regular season schedule begins.  These practices start from the parking lot on Royal Oak Avenue, just south of Deer Lake Parkway. This practice starts at 9:00am SHARP. It is very important that you email Coach Sean at citytrackdad@gmail.com to confirm attendance at this practice before the day so the Coach knows who to expect. This practice is intended for mid and long distance athletes and involves lots of running and hill training. All interested athletes are welcome to attend regardless of their discipline to assist with pre season conditioning.

Pre Season Throws Training for 13+

  • RCTFC athletes aged 13+ who are interested in pre season throws practices and are not already participating, please email Coach Kevin Smith at kevin@royalcitytrack.ca for more information and to get onto Coach Kevin’s email distribution list.

Pre Season Pole Vault Training for 13+

  • Mondays from 6:30pm – 7:45pm for weights at Canada Games Pool.  Workouts will be every Monday and resume as of Monday, January 6.  Please note that athletes will pay for their own facility fee at this location.
  • Wednesdays from 8pm – 10pm for conditioning at Omega Gymnastics.  Workouts will be every Wednesday and resume as of Wednesday, January 8.  Please note that athletes will pay for their own facility fee at this location.
  • Saturdays from 10am to noon at Mercer Stadium starting Saturday, February 1.  These will be vault technical practices on dry days and jump specific speed/strength workouts on rainy days.  Please bring your spikes to all of these training sessions.
  • RCTFC athletes aged 13+ who are interested in pre season pole vault practices and strength training and are not already participating, please email Coach Cristina Weir at cristinamweir@gmail.com for more information.

Pre Season Track Training for 11-12 year old JD Athletes

Pre Season training for Junior Development (JD) athletes aged 11 and 12 years old will start on Thursday, January 16 and run through to Thursday, March 12.

  • Thursdays from 6:00pm – 7:30pm at Mercer Stadium. Workouts will be every Thursday starting Thursday, January 16 and continue until the regular season schedule begins.
  • It will be outdoors this year and under the guidance of Coach Darryl Forsyth.
  • Please note that space will be limited to 25 athletes only! Athletes must email Coach Darryl at darrylforsyth@gmail.com to get one of the 25 available spaces.

2020 TRACK & FIELD TRAINING
