First medal is gold for this track rascal!

Royal City Track and Field Club xc team represented the club well in their wins at the Oct 17 Frank Reynolds’ xc race, hosted by the Norwesters at Cates Park.

Congratulations to Ava Forsyth, Emily, Kate and Elizabeth Bowles, Monika Arcadi, Charlotte Taylor, Grace and Christina Hodges, Hannah and Lauren Sidhu, Emma Dolman, Shea Janke, Jarrett Cooledge, Grace Fetherstonhaugh, Ashlynne Stairs and Emily Chilton for their performances!

Highlights included Ava Forsyth’s 1st place finish in the 6-7 year old track rascal race; Emily Bowles’ 3rd place and Monika Arcadi’s 6th place in the 11 year old girls group; Elizabeth Bowles’ 4th place, Lauren Sidhu’s 5th and Emma Dolman’s 7th for 13 year old girls; Shea Janke’s 4th for Midget boys; Grace Fetherstonhaugh’s 1st and Ashlynne Stairs’ 3rd for Midget girls and Emily Chilton’s 2nd in the Junior girls’ agegroup.

RCTFC athletes conquer hilly course at Festival of Cross Country race

Emily Bowles takes Bronze Medal in 11 year old girls' category at Festival of Cross Country 3.0km race

Emily Bowles takes Bronze Medal in 11 year old girls’ category at Festival of Cross Country 2.0km race.

Twelve Royal City Track and Field athletes competed on Saturday, October 3 at the Festival of Cross Country race at Crescent Park and hosted by Ocean Athletics.

Highlights included:

  • 5th place for Emily Chilton, 16, in the 16-17 year old girls’ category
  • 1st place for Grace Fetherstonhaugh and 3rd place for Ashlynne Stairs in the 14/15 year old girls’ category
  • 6th place for Elizabeth Bowles, 8th place for Lauren Sidhu and 10th place for Emma Dolman in the 13 year old girls’ agegroup
  • 3rd for Emily Bowles and 5th for Monika Arcadi in the 11 year old girls’ agegroup

Congratulations to all runners for their personal best performances on a challenging course.

RCTFC athletes slog through mud and rain to finish strong at Pinetree Classic

Royal City Track and Field Club Cross Country Team braved the rain and muddy conditions at this year’s Pinetree Classic, showing strength and determination in their performances.

Well done Christina and Grace Hodges, Noah Duke, Kate, Emily and Elizabeth Bowles, Monika Arcadi, Ella and Grace Fetherstonhaugh, Emma Dolman, Shea Janke, Gavin Fan and Emily Chilton.

Highlights included:

  • 7th place for Noah Duke in the 9 year old boys’ agegroup
  • 3rd place for Emily Bowles and 4th place for Monika Arcadi for 11 year old girls
  • 3rd place for Elizabeth Bowles, 4th place for Ella Fetherstonhaugh and 7th place for Emma Dolman for 13 year old girls
  • 3rd place for Shea Janke and 4th place for Gavin Fan for 14 year old boys
  • 1st place for Grace Fetherstonhaugh for 15 year old girls

Six Royal City Track and Field Club athletes turned out to compete at the 2015 Vancouver Spirit Run at Jericho Beach on Sunday, September 13th–sunny but blustery beautiful fall day!

Congratulations to Noah Duke, Emily Bowles, Emma Dolman, Elizabeth Bowles, Shea Janke and Grace Fetherstonhaugh for their strong performances!

RCTFC Midget throwers compete at Legion Nationals in Quebec

RCTFC athletes Brianna Bates, 15, and Jenevieve Patry-Smith, 14, travelled to Legion, Nationals in Quebec this summer to compete against a field of fierce competition in the throws events.

Bates competed in javelin while Patry-Smith competed in javelin, discus, shot put and hammer.

Patry-Smith placed in the top 10 in four separate u-16 events. She finished just off the podium in the girls’ discus, placing fourth with a throw of 33.60m – less than half a metre shy of third-place Emma Bauer of Lethbridge, Alta. The New West field athlete was in fifth place in both javelin and hammer throw. She threw the spear 37.19m and the three-kilogram hammer 35.47m. She also placed ninth in the shot put.

Congratulations to both Brianna and Jenevieve for being the sole representatives of Royal City Track and Field Club at Legions this year.

Midget Throwers Take Medals At Hershey Youth Regional Series

Royal City Midget girls, Brianna Bates and Jeneviève Patry-Smith, competed in the Athletics Canada Hershey Youth Regional Series on July 25th and 26th as part of their road to the Legion Youth Championships being held in Quebec in August. The girls finished 3rd and 2nd respectively in the Javelin competition on Saturday afternoon. Earlier in the day, Jeneviève also took home a silver medal in the shot put with a throw of 11.19m.

 

Cross Country Training season starts September 2 for all competitive athletes

All RCTFC competitive athletes who trained and competed during 2105 as members of Royal City Track and Field Club are invited to participate in the Cross Country Running Program at no extra cost.

The first practice is Wednesday, September 2, 2015.

Who is it for?

  • RCTFC Competitive athletes aged 9 and up

When/Where?

For ages 9 and up:

  • Cariboo Park, Burnaby
  • Mondays and Wednesdays from 530-645pm

Additional practice for ages 13 (2002) and older ONLY!:

  • Thursday practice at Cariboo Secondary school gravel track from 6-7:15pm.

RCTFC athletes tough it out in Kamloops heat for big wins at Champs

Congratulations to all Royal City Track and Field Club Junior Development athletes who persevered through sweltering conditions at the JD Championships in Kamloops to win medals, ribbons, top 8 and personal best performances.

Top 8 Highlights from the meet included:

9 year olds:

  • trio of medals for Noah Brolin with Gold in shot put and Bronze in 60m and 100m
  • Bronze in 60m hurdles, 4th in 60m, 600m and high jump, 5th in long jump, 6th in shot put and 100m for Marcus Savela!

11 year olds:

  • Gold in 600m and Silver in 1000m for Emily Bowles
  • 4th in 600m, 5th in 1000m and 8th in high jump and javelin for Monika Arcadi
  • 6th place in long jump for Paige Deedman out of a whopping 26 competitors
  • 8th place in 800m for Kate Bowles

13 year olds:

  • Silver in javelin and 4th in pole vault for Lauryn Savela
  • 5th in 800m and 6th in 1200m for Elizabeth Bowles
  • 7th in 800m and 8th in 1200m for Emma Dolman
  • 8th in high jump and javelin for Emma Celle
  • 7th in 300m for Lauren Sidhu
  • Silver medal performance for the 1200m Sprint Relay Team for the 13 year old girls!

Congratulations to all Royal City athletes who accomplished personal best performances at the meet! That is a great way to end the season!

Special mention to Kate Bowles and Monika Arcadi who paired with 2 Prince George athletes for the relay to win Bronze, also to Katherine Martin and Marcus Savela for their personal best performances in high jump (Marcus also in 60m hurdles that accomplished his bronze medal) and finally to Emma Dolman for her personal best performances in both 80 and 200m hurdles!
