JD Athletes Registration
JD parents and athletes,
Our apologies for the delay in this communication. As mentioned in our March 14 email, we are still on track to begin the Junior Development Track and Field season with Tuesday and Thursday practices at Mercer Stadium starting on April 6 at 5:30pm. This is for athletes born in 2009 to 2012. Athletes born before 2009 should have already been in contact with us.
Planning has been extremely difficult, and it has taken us a lot longer than anticipated to confirm with the City of New Westminster and BC Athletics and keep in line with Provincial Health Orders.
We have made the difficult decision to limit registration to 15 athletes per age group at the present time. Many of you will soon receive an email from Team Trackie (info @ trackie.com) asking that you officially register your child and complete payment. You will then receive an email from Athletics Canada Subject: BC Athletics with links to complete the required waivers and consent. Your registration is not confirmed until you have completed this step. We are asking that this be completed by end of day Wednesday, March 31. If not completed by this time, your space will be given to others on our waitlist. Emails are being sent in order of registrations received.
Please do not reply to either of the emails above, we will not receive them. If there are questions or you/your child have made the decision to no longer participate in this season, please inform us via email to info@royalcitytrack.ca ASAP so that we may remove you from our lists and accommodate other athletes sooner.
Those of you who do not receive an email from Trackie will remain on our waitlist for the time being and we will confirm your participation as soon as possible. This may be later in the week if some of the first 15 choose not to register. If we find ourselves able to open up to more athletes, while still adhering to the restrictions, we will do so ASAP. We are truly sorry that we cannot accommodate everyone this season.
This is a reminder for those of you were members with Royal City in 2020, in order to get your 25% discount on your BC Athletics fee you will have to manually enter COVID25% as a promo code. The system will recognize those who were members in 2020; however, if you forget to enter your code at the time of registration we will not be able to go back and issue a refund.
Please note that parents/spectators are not allowed during practices, due to PHO restrictions. We will be asking parents to drop their registered children at specified areas on Tuesday, April 6 at 5:30pm. Once registration is complete and our numbers are confirmed, we will send the specifics as to where to that will be.
Again, thank you so much for your patience and continued support of our track and field program.
Best Regards,
Ian Coutts

Swangard Training Now Open To 13 Year Olds
The sprint / speed training at Swangard Stadium on Monday nights and the endurance / distance training on Wednesday nights from 7 to 9pm is now open to 13 Year Olds (second year U14s). For more information please see Practice Schedules
Update on 2021 Season
We are still under Provincial Health Restrictions, with participant limits and reduced venue sizes set by both BC Athletics, and our host Cities. This has made planning for the season extremely difficult, and we apologise for the delays in communication. We have been hosting preseason training at Swangard Stadium Mondays and Wednesday for athletes 14 and older, and have recently extended this to include the 13 year olds. These sessions will continue for older athletes through the summer, in addition to the regular sessions below.
It is our intent to begin our Tuesday and Thursday practices at Mercer Stadium April 6th, with athletes born in 2009 – 2012 starting at 5:30 PM and athletes born in 2008 and older starting at 7:00. Registered athletes will be sent more specific details within the next few weeks regarding arrival times, attendance recording and new health regulations. At this time, all athletes born in 2012 or earlier who have registered and are on the waitlist are being asked to complete their registration, emails will be sent this week to enable this. New registrations will continue to be placed on a waitlist, and we will confirm their participation as soon as possible, adhering to the restrictions we are governed by.
Event specific training for the 2008 and older in throws, jumps and specialisations at Central, Swangard and Mercer will be confirmed upon request. Please contact Coach Sean at citytrackdad (at) gmail.com if this applies to you.
Sadly, we have to cancel/postpone our Track Rascal program (athletes born in 2013, 2014 and 2015) for this season. We have always shared space with soccer and football, and current restrictions on field usage and maximum occupancy loads do not allow for this. Having no other space, we have no options available. We will maintain our waitlist and continue to review options as the year progresses. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, given this late date.
Thank you so much for your patience and continued support of our track and field program.
Best Regards,
Ian Coutts
