RCTFC Cross Country athletes off to a strong start!

With a few weeks of determined training and a few races under their belt, the RCTFC Cross Country team is looking strong early in the season. Congratulations to all participating athletes for their hard work at practices and for personal best performances at the races!

Result Highlights include:

  • Max Holmes’ first place in 10 year old boys at the Pinetree Classic and the South Fraser Meets
  • Noah Duke’s 2nd place at Pinetree Classic for 11 year old boys
  • Lucas Bulin’s 3rd place at the South Fraser for 11 year old boys and 5th place at Pinetree Classic
  • Ava Forsyth’s 1st place at the South Fraser for 8 year old girls
  • Emily Bowles’ 4th place at Pinetree Classic, South Fraser and Vancouver Spirit Run in 12 year old girls category
  • Shea Janke’s 1st place at Pinetree Classic and 3rd place at South Fraser for 14-15 year old category
  • Elizabeth Bowles’ 4th place at Pinetree Classic in 14-15 category
  • Grace Fetherstonhaugh’s 2nd place at Pinetree Classic and Vancouver Spirit Run in 16-17 age category

RCTFC JD athletes show well at JD Champs 2016!

Congratulations to all RCTFC JD athletes who competed at the 2016 JD Championships hosted by Ocean Athletics July 29-31. All competitors are to be recognized for personal best performances as a finale to their competitive season!

Highlights include: 13 year old Katie Stewart Barnett’s trio of medals (Gold in 1200m and 2000m and Silver in 800m); Emily Bowles Bronze in 1200m for 12 year old girls; Kathryn Doyle’s Bronze in Javelin for 11 year old girls; Noah Brolin’s Bronze in Shot Put for 10 year old boys, Jaden Knight’s Silver in Jav for 13 year old boys; Markus Savela’s Bronze in Jav for 10 year old boys; Julian Lauritzen’s Bronze in 600m for 9 year old boys; and Max Holmes’ Silver in 600m for 10 year old boys.

Strong reps at Provincial Jamboree by RCTFC Midgets & Juniors

Congratulations to all RCTFC Midget and Youth athletes who competed at the BC Athletics Provincial Jamboree in Nanaimo July 15-17!

Brianna Bates, Emma Celle, Emma Dolman, Elizabeth Bowles, Emily Chilton, Grace Fetherstonhaugh, Devin Strome, Gavin Fan, Joelle Pinvidic, Jenevieve Patry-Smith, Ashlynne Stairs, Evan Smith, Finnley Cookson, Shea Janke, Jeremy Belcher, Maxwell Jones, Lauren Vanee and Ryan Jensen are all to be recognized for their finale season performances at the Provincial Meet.

Highlights from the meet included: Youth Grace Fetherstonhaugh’s trio of Gold medal wins in the 2000m steeplechase, 1500m and 3000m on the track; Midget Jenevieve Patry-Smith’s trio of Bronze Medals in shot put, discus and javelin; Youth Brianna Bates’ Silver Medal in javelin; Midget Maxwell Jones’ Gold medal in pole vault; Youth Finnley Cookson’s Bronze medal in pole vault; Midget Gavin Fan’s Bronze in 200m; Midget Jeremy Belcher’s Silver medal in triple jump; and Youth Evan Smith’s Bronze in javelin.

Fetherstonhaugh, Jones, and Patry-Smith are also to be congratulated on meeting Team BC qualification standards in 2000m steeplechase, pole vault, and javelin, respectively.

RCTFC’s Midget athlete Maxwell Jones competed well in the Midget boys pole vault event with a vault of 3.10m at the recent Trevor Craven meet. Coaches and fellow pole vaulters Kevin Smith and Alex Bouzane also competed at the event alongside their athletes.

RCTFC Annual Club BBQ & Mini Pent 2016

The RCTFC Annual Club Mini Pentathlon followed by a club BBQ attracted more than 85 athletes, parents and coaches despite wet conditions!

Royal City Track & Field Club athletes win well at BC High School Champs

Fourteen Midget and Junior Royal City Track & Field Club athletes qualified to compete for their respective high schools at BC High School Track & Field Championships in Nanaimo June 2-4, 2016.

Emily Chilton, Lauren Vanee, Finn Cookson, Grace Fetherstonhaugh, Ashlynne Stairs, and Brianna Bates, Emma Dolman, Gavin Fan, Maxwell Jones, Jenevieve Patry-Smith, Joelle Pinvidic, Lauryn Savela, Diego Meija and Elizabeth Bowles are to be congratulated for their performances at zone championships and provincials!

Highlights include:

  • 9th place in 400m and 800m for Senior Emily Chilton
  • 10th place in javelin for Senior Lauren Vanee
  • Silver Medal in pole vault for Junior Finn Cookson
  • Gold Medal in 3000m and 1500m steeplechase for Junior Grace Fetherstonhaugh
  • Silver Medal in javelin and 6th place in pole vault for Junior Brianna Bates
  • Silver Medal in discus and shot put and Bronze in javelin for Junior Jenevieve Patry-Smith

RCTFC midget athletes try-out for Summer Games Team!

IMG_3613 (3)Twelve of RCTFC’s midget athletes deserve recognition for their performances at the 2016 BC Summer Games Trials over the course of the last two weeks. Nikhil, Miranda, Emma Celle, Emma Dolman, Elizabeth, Jenevieve, Gavin, Shea, Jeremy, (missing from the photo: Lauryn, Ryan and Maxwell) are all to be congratulated. We wish them well in the post event selection process to be chosen to compete on their zone BC Summer Games team.

RCTFC JD athletes compete well at Junior Olympics!

27286109036_f809a71b53_zCongratulations to all the athletes who competed at the 2016 Junior Olympics meet hosted by South Fraser Track & Field Club at Bear Creek Park May 27 & 28.

Highlights included Max Holmes’ Gold medal win in the 1000m, Emily Bowles’ Gold for the 1200m, Livia Russo’s top place finish in high jump and Nicole Blatherwick’s discus throw for a silver medal!

The RCTFC girls’ squad finished 4th place overall and the boys won 6th place against the other clubs.

Congratulations to the relay teams who represented the club well and to all the track rascals who competed in a series of run, jump and throw events!

RCTFC Midgets & Juniors kick off competition season with Emilie Mondor Meet

Six of Royal City Track & Field Club’s 14+ athletes kicked off the spring competition season by competing Saturday, April 9 at the Emilie Mondor Invitational Meet at Simon Fraser University track. The athletes competed in long jump, triple jump, javelin, sprint hurdles, 800m and 1500m.

Congratulations to Jeremy Belcher, Emily Chilton, Grace Fetherstonhaugh, Lauryn Savela, Lauren Vanee and Brianna Bates for their performances!
