Royal City Athletes Represent Canada in Jamaica

Royal City Track and Field javelin throwers, Jarrett Chong and Jv Patry-Smith represented Canada at the inaugural U18 Jamaican Invitational in Kingston, Jamaica on July 1st, 2018. The event hopes to be a permanent regional event following the removal of the IAAF U18 World Championships from the competition calendar in favour of more regional events. The U18 NACAC (North America, Central America and Caribbean) Championships in Nicaragua were to be that event but were cancelled due to civil unrest in that country.

Both athletes were named to Team Canada for their performances over the 2018 outdoor season and maintaining their #1 ranking in Canada during the qualifying period.

Jarrett threw exceptionally well at the meet, setting a new personal best of 67.26m with the 700g javelin. Jv also won her event with a solid series; her best being 43.28m with the 500g javelin.
