Royal City Girls #1 at South Fraser Meet

The Royal City Track Club began their competitive season this past May long weekend at the South Fraser Junior Olympics meet at Bear creek Park, Surrey. The meet featured over 23 competitive track clubs from around the Fraser Valley vying for individual and club honours.

The Royal City Trackers squad of thirty-one male and female athletes had a very strong competitive showing this weekend with the City Tracker Girls Team making club history by finishing in first place overall beating out perennial powerhouse rival clubs such as Surrey’s Ocean Athletics, the Langley Mustangs and Coquitlam Cheetahs. The smaller numbered male squad had a very strong showing finishing an overall fifth place in the club standings. With both squads combined aggregate points Royal City Track finished firmly in second spot in team standings. Another record for the club as their best finish to date!

City Trackers had a total of 80 top 8 finishes including 12 Golds, 7 Silvers and 11 Bronze medals. Also, four of the girls made outstanding meet athlete in their age groups based on aggregate points scored. Winners were 9yr old Alysha Sidhu Gold, 10yr old Megan Lauener Gold, 11yr old Shianne Lowka Silver, 13yr old Brianne Lowka Bronze.

Other notable meet performances were Megan Lauener, Anaiyah Bernier and Michelle Dadson finishing 1st, 2nd and 5th respectively in the girls 10yr 60mt sprint, 13yr old Brianne Lowka taking gold in the High jump and silver in the triple jump, sister Shianne Lowka and Jenevieve Patry-Smith finishing 1st and 3rd in the 11yr old girls High jump and Shianne took the gold in Discus while Jenevieve took gold in Shotput. Grace Vanee 3rd place and Brianna Bates a strong 4th place in the girls 1200m run. 10yr old girls Long jumpers Megan Lauener, Anaiyah Bernier and Emma Celle finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th place, and new comer Sara Forgie leaped into a bronze medal in 12yr old girls high jump.

On the boys side Emmanuel Dadson won silver for 11yr old boys 100m sprint, new comer Hamish Muttersbach finished 4th in the 10yr boys 600m race. In the 11yr old boys 60m dash Max jones, Jeremy Belcher and Ryan Jensen made the finals to finish 1st, 5th and 6th respectively. New comer Jamie Whittemore finished 5th in his first 12yr old boys 1200m race and Ryan Jensen taking 5th place in the 11yr old boys 1000m race. The 4 x 100m 11yr boys relay team of Noah Slotman, Ryan Jensen, Jeremy Belcher and Max jones took 1st place.
A very successful weekend for the Royal City Track Club whose next big competition is in Coquitlam for the Jesse Bent Memorial Meet June 9th-10th.
